Canvas City Portfolio Benefit

May 15, 2019, 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm

FRONT International is excited to partner with The Bonfoey Gallery to host a benefit for the Canvas City Print Portfolio on May 15th.

Canvas City was an element of the inaugural 2018 edition of FRONT International, An American City. A series of six large scale murals were conceived in recognition of earlier efforts at introducing public art to the city of Cleveland in the 1970s. These Canvas City murals comprise a tightly conceived outdoor exhibition of abstract painting by leading international artists Julian Stanczak, Heimo Zobernig, Sarah Morris, Kay Rosen, Michelle Grabner, and Odili Donald Odita. Three of the full-scale murals have been realized in downtown Cleveland with three to be painted at a later date.

FRONT International has released a limited edition print portfolio featuring six screenprints based on the original mural designs for Canvas City. The prints were expertly screen-printed at BRT Printshop in Brooklyn, NY, and Zygote Press, Cleveland, and come enclosed in a hardbound portfolio case, produced locally in Cleveland.

The series of Canvas City prints will be available for review and purchase at Bonfoey’s from May 15th through June 1st. All sales of the portfolio benefit FRONT International and its production of the final three murals. Bonfoey’s will be hanging a small selection of paintings by Julian Stanczak during the event. Julian Stanczak’s mural, created through Canvas City and FRONT International, is at the corner of East Ninth Street and Prospect Avenue, a ten-minute walk from the gallery.
