FRONT Triennial celebrates the art of Virgie Patton and her daughter, poet Julie Patton
Aug. 29, 2018
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The late great Cleveland artist Virgie Ezelle Patton, who died in 2015 at age 87, created a substantial body of work over a 60-year career that caught the attention of Northeast Ohio art dealers, critics, curators, galleries and museums.
She was known primarily for luminous portraits of friends or family members painted with visually flat areas of color and elegant silhouettes that show a thorough command of human anatomy.
