Isamu Noguchi’s massive 3 story sculpture, Portal, in front of the Justice Center will be transformed into a musical instrument with activations organized by artist Joe Namy. Cleveland’s own Steelyard Sound System will amplify the tubular steel cylinders with a series of duets with the sculpture performed by Namy, M. Carmen Lane, Oberlin’s Creative Musician's Lab (CML) and the Oberlin Improvisation and Newmusic Collective (OINC), and Alumni and Student Dancers from Case Western Reserve University's Department of Dance, plus special guests. This performance is an homage to the iconic Egyptian American composer Halim El Dabh.
