Black Futures Matter
Jun. 05, 2020
Black Lives Matter. As a platform for ideas, FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art supports direct action for the abolition of anti-black police violence, white supremacy, and abuse of power. We are a network including Black People, non-Black People of Color, and White People, building an exhibition that defines contemporary culture. Black safety, healing, joy, and dissent — Black Lives — are essential in our vision of the future. In solidarity with those seeking justice for Tamir Rice, George Floyd, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and countless beloved lost, we suggest these actions:
- Donate to protest bail funds via this Linktree by @transnormativity (thank you!)
- Check your local Black Lives Matter chapters, bail funds, and other community- based organizations to see what is needed. Distribute your resources, not just in crisis.
- Check in with Black People in your life and directly support them. Folks still need emotional support, groceries, childcare, laundry, and rides (wear a mask). If you have questions about how to be anti-racist, start by reading Audre Lorde, bell hooks, Toni Morrison, Angela Davis, Ibram X. Kendi, Layla Saad, Robin DiAngelo, Christina Sharpe, Saidiya Hartman, Fred Moten, and more.
