Dance Workshop at Akron Art Museum

Teens or kids who like to dance in their free time (ie: dance classes or even on TikTok)
Teens and young adults who define themselves as dancers
Amateur dancers of all ages and types of dance
Professional and semi-professional dancers of all ages
With input from local communities, FRONT is excited to present a public dance floor in downtown Akron in Summer 2022 in collaboration with the Swedish architecture group Dansbana! Highlighting the value of dance as a tool of personal and collective transformation, the installation will feature a custom architectural dance floor and sculptural Bluetooth speakers that can support live performances and everyday engagement.
The workshop will be led by FRONT Fellow at Cleveland Public Library, and Founder and Artistic Director of Blakk Jakk Dance Collective, Ron’Dale Simpson.
Dansbana! is an organization that creates public places for dance and is led by Swedish-based architects Anna Pang, Anna Fridolin and Teres Selberg.
FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art is a free, public, contemporary art exhibition that will run from July 16 through October 2, 2022. Building on the success of FRONT’s first edition in 2018, which drew 90,000 visitors from 25 countries, FRONT 2022 furthers the Triennial’s belief that contemporary art can be an important catalyst for positive social change.
