Knight Foundation names 17 winners in 2017 Akron arts challenge

AKRON, Ohio - The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation has awarded grants totaling $743,000 to 17 art projects in the 2017 Akron Knight Arts Challenge.
The winners were announced Tuesday at the Akron Civic Theatre. Winning projects explore subjects ranging from black manhood, to music in Akron's immigrant communities to Akron's rubber factories in the 20th century.
