“The Hologram” Workshop with Cassie Thornton

The Hologram is an experiment in collective, peer-to-peer health care. The project was inspired by Social Solidarity Clinics established in Greece during the height of the financial and migration crisis. The Cummings Center will host an in-person Hologram Workshop on July 13, 2022. The workshop will give participants the chance to practice collective health care in their own peer-to-peer support network, facilitated by artist and activist Cassie Thornton.

The premise is simple: three people – the ‘Triangle’ – meet on a regular basis, to listen to and support the physical, mental, and social health of a fourth person – the ‘Hologram’. The Hologram, in turn, teaches these listeners how to give and also receive care. When they are ready, the Hologram will support them to each set up their own triangle, and so the system expands.
